It’s a big decision, moving away from a busy corporate life in the south of England to settle amidst the crags and fells of one of the Lake District’s most picturesque valleys.
But in the autumn of 2018, that’s exactly what we did.
Tony had always had a hankering to swap his career in corporate law for a life in hospitality. For James - who ran a major data management company - it was something of a homecoming, having spent part of his childhood living near the stunning valley of Ennerdale, in the Western Lake District, and going to Keswick School.
There comes a point in life when you need to stop talking about things and actually do them, and as soon as we saw the Three Shires Inn, we knew this was our chance.
And who could blame us? Just look at the place!
The more we explore the lanes, becks, crags, fells and folds of our new home, the more we learn to love where we live. In fact, the more time we spend in Little Langdale, the fewer reasons we can think of to ever leave. It really is possible to enjoy everything the Lake District has to offer from our doorstep.
As your hosts at the Three Shires Inn, it is our job to make you feel the same way. Whatever you choose to do - hike, bike, amble, run, ride, climb, swim, sail - we will send you on your way with some local knowledge and a good breakfast and welcome you back with a glass in your hand and a delicious meal.
Obviously for now we, like you, are having to deal with the unprecedented effects of the coronavirus outbreak. However, we cannot wait to reopen and look forward to sharing our home with you.
We’re sure you’ll come to love life in Little Langdale just as much as we do.
