This ridge route climbs steadily from Little Langdale up to Swirl How via Wet Side Edge and then onto the summit of one of Lakeland’s best known fells; Coniston Old Man
From the front of the Three Shires Inn, the fells of Wetherlam and Swirl How are the two high fells that are easiest to spot to the south west (weather permitting, of course). They are such a feature of the Little Langdale landscape we named two of our rooms after them.

This walk is a great way to familiarise yourself with our gorgeous little corner of the Lake District and work up an appetite (and a thirst) before dinner. It can take anything from an hour to two hours, depending on how long you dawdle, and is mainly on roads and good tracks. It can be very muddy on top of Little Fell though, so make sure you wear the right footwear.
