As we said in our last blog, the winter is a great time to look at the night sky in the Lake District. At the Three Shires Inn we are blessed with minimal light pollution and some beautiful scenery, which makes it a particularly great spot for looking at the stars. But it’s also the perfect place to take photos of them as well.
So, the clocks have gone back, the nights have drawn in and summer is already starting to feel like a distant memory. But, at the Three Shires Inn, we like to focus on the positives and one good thing about winter is that all those long, dark nights are good for stargazing.
We count ourselves particularly lucky at the Three Shires Inn to host our own annual fell race. This year the race would have taken place on September 19 but, sadly, it had to be cancelled due to coronavirus.
There is always interesting wildlife to watch in Little Langdale.
We caught up with David Harpley, conversation manager with Cumbria Wildlife Trust, to ask what we should be looking out for near the Three Shires Inn at the moment.
As you have not been able to enjoy the experience of dining out since lock down started, we are delighted to have signed up to be part of the governments ‘Eat out to Help out’ scheme and are excited to welcome you back to dine with us here at the Three Shires Inn.
