Have a quick look at a map and you’ll see that from the door of the Three Shires you’re just a short journey from the rolling eastern fells and it’s even possible to explore the central and western areas via an energetic bike ride or long walk. (We’ll leave it to the wannabe ‘Bob Grahams’ to see if they can make it to the northern fells and back in a day!)
When it came to naming our nine rooms at the Three Shires we wanted to make them just as inspiring as they are comfortable and contemporary. That’s why we named each of them after the corresponding fells they look towards.
These vary from Little Fell - just a short hop into the valley - to Bowfell and Coniston Old Man, both a full day’s hike into the hills to the north west and south west respectively. Over the coming months we’ll be giving you some tips on how to explore these nearby fells, and what to look out for on the way.
Wherever you choose to explore, we’ve made sure on your return you’ll be greeted by the comfiest room possible. Since moving to the Lake District and taking over the Three Shires we’ve been hard at work renovating and refreshing our rooms, as well as our lounge.
Even if you don’t fancy going out at all, you can still enjoy the grandeur of the Lake District from inside the Three Shires without having to battle with the elements.
